Our genes are located in the cell nucleus of each and every cell of our bodies.
They contain the construction plan of life. Everybody has basically the same information within his/her genes, the blueprint for a heart, a leg, a nose etc. Apart from identical twins, small genetic variations make every person unique. These genetic variations are known as polymorphisms.
Polymorphisms don’t just determine uniqueness of facial features or body shape or size. They also have a key role in determining your susceptibility to certain diseases and resistance to others.
With advances in genetic testing it is now possible to identify many of these polymorphisms and to see your inherent predisposition to developing certain diseases.
Armed with such information you can do something about it, through lifestyle changes and specific nutritional supplements.
GENOSENSE , an Austrian company, are the leaders in the field of genetic testing. We will take a sample of genetic material by a gentle scraping of the inside of your cheek. This is done in the doctor’s surgery and the sample will be sent to Austria for analysis. The scope of genetic analysis to be undertaken is decided by the individual patient

Why undertake genetic analysis?
Our visual appearance is mainly influenced by our genetic information. Height, eye and skin colour as well as many other characteristics of the human being are inborn. The latest scientific studies also confirm that genes influence the predisposition for diseases that may only surface in later years.
In most cases, preventative steps can be taken before the disease occurs that will protract or even prevent the course of disease. The choice of preventive measures depends on the individual characteristics of the genetic information – from those gene sequences that have an allotropic (polymorph) occurance.
By finding these slight differences (polymorphisms) in the genetic information you can reduce your risks due to the exposure to environmental factors (e.g. stress, smoking, bad nutrition).
Often slight lifestyle changes have a positive influence on your well-being. If medication is unavoidable it is important to know how the body reacts and metabolises it. Even the reaction of the body to medication is influenced by our genes.
The genetic analysis result enables:
» An early detection of susceptibility for certain diseases even before they surface
» Individual measures for prevention and therapy for diseases
» A patient-tailored choice and dose of certain hormones and medication
» An optimisation of life style and therefore life quality
» A slowdown of ageing due to an individualised nutrition and choice of nutrition supplements
